Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffOctober 22, 2003More of a basic chess tutor than an actual game, Cheesy Chess is not without its issues. Although the interface isn't graphically impressive, kids are sure to like the bright colors and cartoon chess pieces. The program includes three songs, one of which crashed the application every time we tried to use it. The instructional song that teaches kids how to set up their players is useful, but the option called Cheesy Song seems like a pointless inclusion and contains nasty-sounding digital distortion. Cheesy Chess teaches your kids the basic moves of the game by placing two pieces on the board with a piece of cheese. The child's goal is to select the proper piece that can accomplish the move to eat the cheese. However, beyond this, the program offers no other tutorial options and lacks any kind of actual game mode. Since it's not thorough enough for beginning chess players and is too simple for those with a grasp of the fundamentals, we can see how this program only will appeal to a small cross-section of downloaders.
