Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffApril 14, 2008This interactive program, designed to familiarize kids with common words, looks good but lacks depth. Sight Words Buddy's stylish interface has three arms radiating from the center with a different word on each. Kids press the correct word after it's said aloud. If they select the wrong word, it's eliminated and they choose again. The score is kept in the center along with a button to have the word repeated. One of the two control panels displays the current drill with arrows below to select from the five options, which range from preprimer to third grade. You can view but not edit the word list associated with a drill by clicking on the display button. The other panel lets you switch the view, choose one of numerous skins, and exit the program. No help file is offered. Though it's not the most feature-rich reading program, Sight Words Buddy is easy to use and it's offered free of charge.
