Check out DeadLine, a free program for solving equations and finding their derivatives, integrals, and min and max points. Just enter a formula to have Deadline instantly graph it. You can add parameters, save graphs in the most popular graphics formats, and store roots in an HTML file. The buttonless scientific calculator looks a bit strange, but thanks to drop-down menus it's very convenient for entering long, complicated formulas. What's more, you can add your own constants and functions (although, unfortunately, you can't save them between sessions). DeadLine occasionally crashed when we were solving sophisticated equations, but it should be adequate for basic calculus and engineering courses.
