You act as a broker on the market of paintings, and amass money by buying low and selling high. Unfortunately, you are very limited in the range of possible actions. The gameplay of Modern Art resembles Preference game and some old board games where you had to buy and sell something in turns with other players. This may be a matter of taste, but we got bored with the game already after reading the first paragraph of voluminous readme file, where the rules are explained. We couldn't remember them after reading more, and unsuccessfully tried to understand everything by just jumping in the game. We suppose most gamers will have the same story. The game design is obviously out of date, though it must have a variety of strategic options like any cards game. Modern Art game does not impress, you just face some rudimentary graphics, unfriendly interface, and a Talmud of overcomplicated rules you hardly have desire to learn. Still, we hope that patient gamers and undemanding fans of the genre will overcome the feelings we described and enjoy the trading possibilities that lie therein.
