Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffJune 15, 2015This primitive, text-based game strikes as a virtual version of the popular Choose-Your-Own-Adventure series of children s books. HLA Adventure is reminiscent of some of the earliest computer games of the 1980s. Your primary goal in this medieval quest is to remove an evil dragon from the kingdom. You play by reading the text scenario and entering commands; there are no graphics or sound effects. Unfortunately, HLA Adventure has minimal hints and tips, so learning what commands the game will accept is largely a trial-and-error process. In one instance, we found ourselves inside of a store with a clerk. However, no matter what we did, we couldn t figure out how to buy anything or even speak to the person behind the counter. The game also comes up short in the features department, as it doesn t offer a single user-customization option that we could find. We can see how this free program could potentially provide a bit of fun to more imaginative folks, but the developer first needs to make it clearer how the game is played.
