Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 29, 2024This game simultaneously teaches and entertains, though some users may find it too complex for its own good. In Wordcrafter, you form words by connecting contiguous letters that appear in a grid. Once you've created a word, the game transforms it into tiles, which you must then use to fill a board. However, Wordcrafter's goal was not immediately clear to us, and when we visited the online help files, we were somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of rules. After we completed the rather tedious process of learning all the special rules and moves, we found mastering the game a tall order. The graphics are better than average, but the feature set is small, only allowing you to disable the sound effects and music or play in full-screen mode. We also encountered a few stability problems. Though the game did crash one of our tests PCs, it hogged far too much system memory no matter which machine we ran it on. Still, if you have the patience and time to tough your way through the learning process, this game offers a challenge.
