Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffOctober 26, 2010If games like Brave Dwarves 2 are any indication, the Mario Brothers tradition is still going strong. In this family-friendly scroller, you guide an intrepid dwarf adventurer through a moonlit fairy-tale world. Along the way, you collect artifacts and treasure and fend off bees, ghosts, and bats. The gameplay is competent (if a bit on the easy side), but the detailed graphics and charming soundtrack really stand out, evoking a cozy, magical atmosphere. The controls are fully configurable and you can use a gamepad. However, don't expect to finish even the one-provided level. The demo has a 15-minute time limit, and the game frequently interrupts, asking whether you want to buy the registered version. Think of this as a teaser. The $15 registration fee is reasonable, and as an introduction to the world of fantasy-arcade gaming, Brave Dwarves 2 is an excellent choice.
