Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffOctober 11, 2013This entertaining and unique Texas Hold'Em game scores big points on most fronts, but the ridiculously stingy trial period takes some of the wind out of its sails. In Telltale Texas Hold Em, you find yourself sitting across from four 3D-animated characters, including a hippie-type kid and an elderly grandmother. Playing this game almost feels like competing in a real poker tournament, as your opponents are full of clever, often humorous banter. We have no complaints whatsoever about this program's cartoonish graphics, although it would be nice if you could resize the main window. The jazz soundtrack fits the bill just fine, but you can turn it down if you find it distracting. You also can disable the other players' audio commentary in favor of subtitles. We really enjoyed playing Telltale Texas Hold Em, but we were very disappointed to find the demo only will let you gamble for 15 minutes before it shuts down. Such a short trial period may not give many users time to decide whether the game is worth their cash. In all other respects, this program is a winner, but don't get attached to it unless you're prepared to pay.
