Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffAugust 29, 2008Although it effectively blocks access to specified URLs, this plug-in only works with Internet Explorer, so it won't prevent visits using other Internet browsers. IE Locks' plain and simple interface is password-protected and accessible through the System Tray icon. The program gives you the power to block or allow Web sites by URL. While it doesn't have its own page informing users that a site is prohibited, you can specify a particular Web site that will launch every time the user tries to access a forbidden site. Also, you can opt to remove IE Lock from the Add/Remove list, although this is a bit misleading. Only the Remove button is stripped--the program still appears on the list. The biggest flaw is that it only works with Internet Explorer, snubbing other popular browsers like Firefox and Opera. This 15-day trial program effectively blocks access to Web sites deemed inappropriate, but users will only have to use another browser to thwart IE Lock.
