Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffMay 22, 2001This freebie helps you quickly erase some aspects of your Web-surfing traces, but its powers are clearly limited. Cookie Monster II's interface is basically a system-tray icon that allows you to get rid of cached Internet Explorer files and cookies via a simple right-click. But the program can't even delete typed URLs, so you'll still have to access IE's built-in privacy tools to be truly protected. The application lacks a whitelist for cookies, though you can choose to only erase certain ones via a list. But unlike full-featured privacy suites, this one doesn't support the cleaning of alternative browsers or third-party apps, and it cannot shred files. New users might benefit somewhat from Cookie Monster II, but most other folks should stick with a more robust program.
