Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffMarch 25, 2008There are many, many RSS feed aggregators out there. If you're a novice wanting to try out the RSS-feed-reader world for the first time, this is a good place to start.Anchorman introduces the world of RSS feeds in a user-friendly, easy-to-comprehend manner with a simple but thorough Help feature, clearly written instructions in dialog boxes, and a well-designed interface. The latter is based on the tried-and-true e-mail client format: three panes divided among a feed directory, headline pane and feed browser pane. Configuring the tool to select feeds is a simple matter that prompts the new user at initial launch for preferences with a wizard-like setup feature.Anchorman responded quickly during our tests, and setting up new feeds and managing all our feeds was easy. There are aggregators available with more bells and whistles, but this is a great tool for someone wanting ease of use. The 15-day trial limitation is a bit brief, and the price may turn off some users who are willing to settle for a less-intuitive tool offered for free. But Anchorman's simplicity will be worth the price to many new-to-RSS users who don't want to figure out a puzzle every time they sit down to read feeds.
