Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 22, 2006Everything about this free news reader is nicely done. It's flexible, easy to use, and although the interface can get a bit crowded, it offers some handy features. News Jungle Blog and RSS Reader's interface shows feeds on the right and you can view headlines on the left. Or, if you choose, you can view headlines and the whole page of an article with the built-in browser that shows text only or pulls up the Web page. Basically, this flexible program displays the information almost any way you like. It's simple to add your own feeds with News Jungle Blog and RSS Reader's wizard-like approach. Simply right-click on a feed, select the News Jungle option, and the program will quickly walk you through the process. To organize the feeds you can add as many folders as you like. That's a handy option for the news junkie with abundant feeds. The program has all the niceties of a paid program, allowing you to mark items as read, save them for future reference, and sort headlines by date, title, and keywords. You can easily import and export your feed subscriptions using OPML.Most other features are self-explanatory, but there's an extensive and informative user manual in the program. However, the online help and the publisher's site weren't available during our tests. News Jungle Blog and RSS Reader is a top-notch program for reading and organizing your feeds, regardless of whether you're new to site syndication or an old hand at this relatively new technology.
