QuadSucker-News has a nicely arranged interface, designed for easy and intuitive use. It offers two modes for downloading posts: the Streaming mode automatically downloads newsgroup posts as they appear, without your intervention; Pick and Choose mode requires your interaction and allows you to specify which files you want downloaded. You can configure whether the program downloads all posts to a single folder or to a series of subfolders categorized according to their newsgroup source. To optimize downloading, QuadSucker-News can download up to five threads simultaneously instead of only a single thread (depending on limitations set by your ISP, you may not be able to use this feature to its fullest). A wizard leads you through setup, which is particularly handy for novices.Our one complaint is about its download filtering. Although you can add filter words during the download process, the filters did not kick in on the fly. Other than that slight drawback, the program works quickly and well. We can easily recommend QuadSucker-News for anyone interested in a user-friendly newsgroup reader.
