Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffDecember 3, 2007This simple Web browser recorder saves scripts, but suffers from an odd failing. No matter your experience level, Web Macros Free's basic button and pull-down interface is easy to understand. Tool tips and customizable windows help novice users quickly pick up the program. This version is freeware with e-mail registration, but some options are available only in the paid version.Web Macros Free uses a built in browser that operates much like Internet Explorer, but doesn't support add-ons. Starting with a simple single-click recording button, the program stores mouse clicks, text entry, and select commands in simple scripts. You can easily edit the scripts to remove missteps or add additional movements. Strangely, the application doesn't save the right-click menu Back command. Replaying with the movement missing causes the script to fail with an error. It will store the Back command if the program's browser button is selected. Scripts are easily edited text files, but you must know the commands. Though the application includes a helpful pull-down command insertion function, the menu includes only five uncommon commands.Web Macros Free isn't revolutionary software, but users needing an easy-to-learn tool to record basic browsing should give this application a test run. There are more comprehensive programs in this genre, but you can't beat the price of the this freeware.
