Flexbeta Firetweaker

Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffJuly 25, 2005It may be designed to tweak your Firefox browser for peak performance, but this free application produces more errors than results and seems to need some tweaking of its own. Flexbeta Firetweaker's well-designed interface looks good, and it's well-organized and easy to follow. That's the good news. The bad news is that, despite its nice setup, applying most of the tweaks led to program-killing errors in our tests. That includes the one-click Auto Optimizer and options to change tab colors, customize menus, and specify navigation button appearance. It's actually easier to list what didn't cause the program to shut down. We found the option to change the cache storage location and the option to use your own image file as the toolbar background image were the only features in working order. There is a rollback button to undo tweaks, and it worked, but since most of the options failed to implement, this really wasn't a strong positive. We can't readily recommend Flexbeta Firetweaker, not with its main feature and so many others gone awry.
