Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffNovember 6, 2012SocialPlus is a free Google Chrome extension that promises to add new features to your Facebook account, but many of your efforts will go unappreciated by anyone else unless they add the extension as well.Once you add the extension to your browser, you'll see the SocialPlus menu in the upper-right-hand corner of the page the next time you log in to Facebook. You'll find options to select your settings, add filters, choose skins, and invite friends to use the extension. With simple check boxes for most options, setup is fairly simple. Under settings, you can opt out of any of the program's features with one click. This includes the enhanced text editor that allows you to add color and formatting to your updates, the option to add emoticons, and enable skins. Now, while it's easy to set up, the downside is that if your friends don't have SocialPlus they won't see any of your customizations. This also extends to other features that allow you to "dislike" content or prompt your friends with the "wizzes," a feature the publishers say is a way to nudge your friends. Still, even if you don't use those customizations, you can take advantage of the filters, which allow you to hide things you don't want to see, such as groups your friends join or their relationship status changes. There's no Help file, just a link to report bugs or check for updates, and a page on the publisher's Web site for questions that provides minimal guidance. Some of the questions (and parts of the site) are in French and the answers to many questions about why features aren't working is simply to have your friends add SocialPlus. In many ways, SocialPlus is a social networking tool within a social networking tool -- it works best if your friends use it, too -- but there are some cool features that can help you manage your Facebook account more easily.
