Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffJune 16, 2008This Shrek-inspired browser is sure to please kids, but some of its features may not get rave reviews from parents.Kids will love the bright and colorful interface that comes with Shrek Browser. Characters from the movie appear at the bottom of the window and represent user preferences. An animated Shrek, similar to IE's assistant, pops up to offer helpful tips and to alert you of any messages in your in-box. The blocking feature worked great. We visited a few Web sites that weren't kid friendly, and sure enough, they were blocked. A friendly message appeared requesting that the child ask for their parents permission first. We found a few grammatical errors in some of the game directions, though, which was a real disappointment. Parents also might not appreciate some of the browser's shopping links. For example, there's a link to an auction Web site that is kind of a kids version of eBay. We also found that some of the pages included ads for purchasing Shrek-related items.Overall, this browser worked well for us, but parents might not appreciate the push to buy on some of the featured sites.
