Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 8, 2008According to its publisher, WordsEx is an Internet text retrieval tool. You type in a word or phrase, and the program quickly pulls information from 24 search engines. Unfortunately, its unappealing design overshadows its performance.WordsEx's user interface is extremely hard to read, although the large, black type on top of the green background is suitable for the visually impaired. The instructions for how to use WordsEx are way too complicated. Novice users will definitely be scared off by the lengthy explanations. It took us a few tries just to figure out what, exactly, we were looking at on the screen. At first glance, it looks like a bunch of random words scattered haphazardly on the screen. But on a closer look, we discovered that there is a lot of information to be had. We performed searches using several different keywords and the program quickly retrieved all kinds of relevant information and we were able to save our findings easily. The use of your arrows keys to navigate through the information is a bit awkward until you get the hang of it.After all is said and done, we just cant get past this free browser's unappealing user interface. Users with visual impairment or who can't use a mouse might appreciate what this browser alternative has to offer, but we suggest that others stick with what they've got or look for a more attractively designed program.
