Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffMarch 26, 2004This simple synchronization tool protects against data loss by creating copies of documents you're working with. NowSafe's basic interface reflects its bare-bones functionality, though we appreciated the ability to quickly change its settings via a system-tray icon. However, we could never figure out whether the app makes an archive copy every time you save the document or if it does so automatically at regular intervals. Also, since the developer neglected to include help files, we remain in the dark. In any case, you can't configure the archive frequency, although you can specify which folders, subfolders, and file types to back up. For such a simple program, we were surprised and dismayed to learn that NowSafe consumes nearly 7MB of memory when running in the background. This program may come in handy for certain users, but it doesn't offer much beyond Windows' built-in file-recovery powers.
