Elden Ring Review: Why It Is Still the Open-World RPG to Beat

Elden Ring is the kind of game that resets expectations. Instead of guiding you with icons, it trusts you to explore — and rewards every detour.

Real freedom

If a boss is too hard, you can simply go to another region, gain two levels, find a better weapon and come back. That flexibility fixes the biggest soulslike problem: hard progression walls.

Bosses

There are dozens, and most have readable patterns. A few chain attacks with almost no window, which frustrates — but the game hands you tools (summons, ashes of war, spells) to compensate.

Performance

On PC there are still stutters in open areas. With a mid-range GPU, aim for 1080p at medium. On PS5 it runs well, and performance mode is recommended.

Verdict

If you accept being treated like an adult and do not mind dying 30 times to the same boss, it is essential. 9.6/10.
